“That ICPA Qld lobbies the Department of Education (DoE) to pay relief teachers at the level of their experience plus the loading in line with the Catholic system.”
Explanation:
Currently relief teachers are paid at a band 3 Step 1 (5 years’ experience/teaching) and there is no increase in pay. This is a great wage for the teachers in their first 4 years of teaching but after that our experienced teachers are not earning a wage reflecting their experience. An experienced teacher of over 10 years gets paid approximately $100 more a day in the Catholic system. We also want our experienced teachers to stay in the profession longer and do relief teaching rather than retiring early towards the end of their careers.
